REMUERA INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
СºüÀêÊÓƵ (RI) is a school catering for 11 to 13 year olds in СºüÀêÊÓƵ, Auckland, New Zealand.
It was established in 1953 and opened in 1954 with a roll of over 500.
In his opening speech in front of over 1000 people, Mr Algie, the then Minister of Education, said that he had decided that intermediate schools were fully justified on educational, social and economic grounds and that the intermediate concept was 'here to stay'.
Present-day RI consists of the original main building of classrooms and administration, with additional technology and specialist classrooms being added in more recent years. The school's student count varies between 850 and 1000 each year.
Additional classrooms have also been added to cater for the present roll of around 900.
